The Practice
Shrewsbury Chiropody & Podiatry has been a well-established clinic since the early 1960's with the practice located opposite the indoor market at the heart of Shrewsbury town centre.

Our front of house team are on hand to answer any queries you may have and advise which treatment would be of benefit to you, whilst providing a warm friendly welcome to all of our clients both old and new.

Other footcare providers including foot health practitioners/foot health specialists are not chiropodists or podiatrists (this cannot be stated clearly enough) - usually they have only completed up to 10 days of practical training alongside up to 1 years long distance learning.
All registered Podiatrists/Chiropodists are issued with registration numbers and valid certificates from the UK Government's Regulatory Body, the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC). This ensures quality assurance and professional standard of care with continuous professional development.

About The Podiatrists
(Chiropodists)
All of our podiatrists have completed a 3 year degree at university prior to being registered by the Health & Care Professions Council to practice within both the NHS and Private sector.
To maintain their registration, our podiatrists update their knowledge and clinical skills through continuing professional development as required by the Health & Care Professions Council.
As a team, our podiatrists have gained many years experience within both the NHS and the private sector giving us the ability to cater for all lower limb requirements including specialist areas such as Diabetes, Biomechanics and Nail Surgery.
What is the difference between a Podiatrist & a Chiropodist?
In the UK the name of Podiatry replaced Chiropody in 1993 because this is how the profession is known internationally.
Qualifications of a Podiatrist
For a Podiatrist to register with the Health & Care Professions Council they have to complete and pass either a full time honours degree in Podiatry (BSc Hons) or a 4.5 year part time course.
What do the letters mean?
DPodM or BSc Hons Podiatry - the podiatrist has completed the required training at an approved institution. Originally this was a diploma in podiatric medicine later changed to a degree level qualification.
MChS or FChS
The Podiatrist is a member or fellow of The Society of Chiropodists & Podiatrists. A practicing member of this society is assured of having professional indemnity insurance cover.
